CPMEC Accreditation Surveyor Database

The Accreditation Surveyor Database is intended to create a resource for Postgraduate Medical Council (PMCs) to utilise trained accreditation surveyors from other jurisdictions to participate in prevocational accreditation assessments.

The accreditation survey team undertaking assessment visits to large facilities or within smaller jurisdictions will include, where possible, a trained experienced surveyor from another PMC, to support increased independent decision-making and manage conflicts of interest.

Accreditation Surveyors

All surveyors must have undertaken accreditation training in their local jurisdiction and have recently undertaken a site assessment visit under the Australian Medical Council’s National standards and requirements for prevocational (PGY1 and PGY2) training programs and terms.

Eligible Surveyors include appropriately qualified and experienced:

  • Prevocational Doctors
  • Medical Practitioners
  • Fellows
  • Consultants
  • Registrars
  • Medical Education Officers

Travel and remuneration

The appointing jurisdiction will be responsible for coordinating and funding travel, transfers, accommodation and reasonable expenses, in accordance with local remuneration policies.

Consents

All accreditation surveyors must provide explicit consent before being added to the national database.

Confidentiality and COIs

All accreditation surveyors will be subject to local jurisdictional Confidentiality Agreement and Conflict of Interest Declaration requirements.

Evaluation

All accreditation surveyors will be subject to local jurisdiction evaluation processes. Accreditation surveyors may be removed from the database at the discretion of the jurisdictional PMC or CPMEC, based on evaluation findings. Evaluating the performance of survey team members complies with the AMC domains and procedures for assessing and accrediting prevocational (PGY1 and PGY2) training accreditation authorities.

Survey team performance evaluation data will only be shared at the discretion of local PMC.

Data Integrity

The database will be securely stored and maintained by CPMEC, with authorised access granted to delegates appointed by the local PMC.
